At work yesterday morning they just informed me that SoCal Edison will be shutting off the power in Marina Pacifica Mall on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 11 to do some repair work. Which just happens to be the second Tuesday, the night of my poetry reading. When we were really looking forward to hearing Peggy Dobreer read from In the Lake of Your Bones, her new book from Moon Tide Press.

Gatsby Books to the rescue. Sean and Alisha have agreed to let us hold the reading there. Gatsby, if you somehow are unaware, is the best bookstore in Long Beach (and yes, I am being disloyal to my employer there, but it's the truth), home of the Hump Readings (third Wednesday) and the Bank-Heavy Variety Show (last Thursday), as well as sorts of other wonderful literary happenings. Check them out at gatsbybooks.com.

So I hope you can all manage to aim yourselves toward northeast Long Beach, rather than southeast, and come check out Peggy Dobreer. The reading starts at 7 p.m. at 5535 E. Spring St. and there is an open reading. You can also visit www.peggydobreer.com for details or contact information on Peggy.
