Moonday in the Village will feature Poet Laureate Michelle Bitting and Westside poet Holaday Mason on Monday, Aug. 13 at Buerge Chapel at Aldersgate Retreat House, Pacific Palisades. We invite all our poets and listeners to experience this lovely, peaceful spot close to the Pacific Ocean. Open reading sign-up starts at 6:30 p.m. and the reading starts at 7:30 p.m.

Bitting, appointed Poet Laureate of Pacific Palisades in March 2012, has work published or forthcoming in the American Poetry Review, Prairie Schooner, Narrative, Rattle, Nimrod, River Styx, Crab Orchard Review, diode, Linebreak, LA Weekly and others. She has taught poetry in the UCLA Extension Writer's Program, at Twin Towers prison with a grant from Poets & Writers, and is proud to be an active member of California Poets in the Schools.

Mason is the author of Towards the Forest and Dissolve (New River Press 2007, 2011), Light Spilling from Its Own Cup (Inevitable Press, 1999) and Interlude (FarStarFire Press, 2001). The Red Bowl, A Fable in Poems, is forthcoming from Red Hen Press. She lives in Venice, California, where she sometimes serves as artist-in-residence for Beyond Baroque.
