Writing is alive and well in Alaska. The sixth annual Alaska Writers Conference is being held in Anchorage on September 7-8-9 at the West Coast International Inn. Writers, poets, publishers, editors and agents from all over the US and the UK will be there for workshops, lectures, seminars and panel discussions of the art and business of writing in today's unique literary climate. Barnes & Noble, the Loussac Municipal Library, and KACN-TV are assisting with the production and distribution of conference books and information to the 150 attendees expected to arrive on Friday, September 7th.
Irena Pratis, author and poet, spoke to the Alaska Writers Guild during her sabbatical of 2009, and taught three writing seminars to sold out attendance. Her new book, Straws and Shadows, published by Moon Tide Press, will launch July 5th in Fullerton, California.
